Scheduler - General Surgery Clinic (FT)

The Scheduler facilitates the scheduling of surgery and diagnostic tests, as ordered by the physician, and ensures that all pertinent clinical and demographic information is sent to the appropriate departments.

Job Specific:

1. Verifies insurance and demographic information with patient.
2. Coordinates the scheduling of procedures and diagnostic testing with patient and physician.
3. Notifies patient of procedure date, time, and pre-procedural instructions.
4. Distributes orders and relevant information to appropriate departments.
5. Obtains signed authorizations and consent forms.
6. Assist with all other clerical staff duties in clinic as assigned.

Hospital:

1. Adheres to organization-wide and other applicable policies and procedures.
2. Day-to-day performance complies with the hospital's Service Excellence Behavioral Expectations.
3. Performs within the prescribed limits of the hospital's Ethics, Compliance and Confidentiality Program guidelines.
4. Performs within the professional Scope of Practice at all times.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Required: High School diploma or GED

EXPERIENCE

Required: At least one year of experience in a medical office or a clinical setting.

SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Required: Ability to work effectively with physicians, clinic, and hospital personnel.

Preferred: Familiar with medical terminology, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and experience with an electronic medical record platform.

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Preferred: Certified Medical Assistant
