Position Summary
The Business Office is recruiting for one full time Accounting Clerk I - Casher to work in Payments. This position is responsible for providing excellent customer service skills as well as performing primarily cashiering duties for Victoria College students and its constituents, along with some Accounts Receivable duties.

Duties & Responsibilities- Ensures excellent customer service when greeting and assisting customers in person, via email, or over the phone.
- Accepts payments from students for tuition, fines, test fees, etc.
- Adds third-party awards to student account and apply to balance.
- Receipts money, balances cash drawer and closes cashier sessions daily.
- Issues and reloads gift cards.
- Schedules students for exams and processes payment.
- Provides third-party vendor bookstore vouchers to students as needed
- Assists students with questions regarding their accounts, including explaining refund process and researching discrepancies.
- Maintains file of administrative installment plans.
- Reprints student schedules/receipts as requested during semester.
- Issues student ID cards
- Maintains student installment receivable file and prepare notices of delinquent accounts, working with collection agency and Financial Aid office as needed
- Receipts scholarship checks and updates spreadsheet daily. Creates check requisitions for donor refunds.
- Maintains and orders office supplies.
- Handles all returned checks, including posting to student account, notifying student by certified mail, preparing checks to be sent to District Attorney's Office, requesting drops for students with unpaid checks, and receipting payments.
- Receipts departmental deposits.
- Assists Accounts Receivable staff with preparing student refund checks to be mailed
- Ensures excellent customer service when greeting and assisting customers in person, via email, or over the phone
- Other duties as assigned by Business Office Manager.
- This position will access student records at times and will follow all FERPA guidelines.
Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED required
- Some college preferred
- Two years cashier experience with strong Microsoft skills required
- Must demonstrate excellent customer service
- Experience in a banking or financial institution preferred.
Physical Demands While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle controls, key pads, etc. Will be required to sit and reach with hands and arms as well as sit, stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds while loading office supplies and paper. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, some color vision, and the ability to adjust focus from documents to computer screen. Hearing of light to moderate sound is required for this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
The following benefits apply to all full-time positions scheduled to work
30 hours or more each week. These full-time positions are also eligible to participate in our TRS retirement plan.
