ROLE SUMMARY

Clean and maintain Region 3 facilities using routine procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Three years of experience in custodial work
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to read and understand written and oral instructions
  • Knowledge of custodial cleaning methods, sanitation techniques, and safe chemical handling
  • Knowledge of proper use and care of custodial equipment such as floor machines, carpet shampooers, vacuums, and auto-scrubbers
  • Ability to work in multiple buildings as needed
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to exercise judgment in selecting appropriate cleaning methods, chemicals, and safety practices
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Perform daily custodial duties including dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, disinfecting surfaces, emptying trash, and cleaning restrooms
  • Maintain hallways, offices, breakrooms, restrooms, conference rooms and common areas in clean, neat, sanitary condition
  • Perform routine and periodic floor care including scrubbing, stripping, waxing, buffing, and carpet cleaning
  • Clean interior windows, glass, mirrors, furniture, fixtures, and high-touch areas
  • Follow Region 3 protocols for infection control and safe chemical handling
  • Conduct deep-cleaning tasks during breaks, including wall washing, detailed floor maintenance, and office sanitation
  • Maintain custodial closets and supply storage areas in a clean and organized state
  • Follow all Region 3 safety practices, PPE requirements, and SDS procedures
  • Use appropriate judgment when handling chemicals, cleaning agents, and potentially hazardous situations
  • Assist with opening and closing buildings, ensuring all interior security checks are completed
  • Keep halls and exits free of hazards; correct unsafe conditions immediately or report them to supervisor
  • Participate in required training, safety meetings, and professional development
  • Follow emergency procedures including evacuation, lockdown, and shelter-in-place
  • Maintain a positive, cooperative, and professional attitude with staff, visitors, and coworkers
  • Communicate supply needs, building issues, or schedule conflicts promptly to the supervisor
  • Work scheduled hours consistently; availability for flexible scheduling (days, evenings, weekends) as assigned
  • Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and excellent customer service at all times
  • Work effectively across multiple buildings if required by the site or assignment
  • Perform other custodial duties as assigned

  • Ability to lift 25-45 lbs. regularly and heavier items with assistance
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching
  • Frequent pushing/pulling of custodial carts and equipment
  • Climbing stairs as needed
  • Repetitive hand and arm motions
  • Ability to perform physical work daily
ENVIRONMENT
  • Primarily indoor, climate-controlled conditions
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals, fumes, odors, and moderate noise levels
  • Occasional wet or slippery floors
  • May require irregular or extended hours based on building needs
