Job Summary
The Fitness Instructor supports the health and wellness goals of the organization by leading engaging fitness activities and ensuring safe, effective use of fitness equipment. This role also assists with recreational programming, provides short-term childcare when needed, and delivers exceptional customer service. The Fitness Instructor creates a welcoming, inclusive environment while educating guests on proper exercise techniques and equipment use to promote healthy lifestyles for all participants.
Essential Functions
Leads individual and group fitness classes using safe, effective exercise techniques tailored to a range of fitness levels.
Demonstrates proper use of fitness equipment and monitors guests for correct form and safety.
Provides excellent customer service by greeting guests, answering phones, offering tours, and supporting guest needs and inquiries.
Maintains a clean, safe, and organized fitness area and promptly reports equipment issues or safety concerns.
Assists in developing recreational and movement activities that promote health, creativity, and physical activity.
Supports event and activity planning in collaboration with the program coordinator and team members.
Promotes a welcoming and motivating environment for all guests and participants.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
Associate Degree in Fitness, Exercise Science, or a related Health Science field preferred
1-2 years of experience in customer service required
1-3 years of experience in childcare or group fitness instruction preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of group fitness modalities (e.g., yoga, Zumba, strength training).
Ability to teach, modify, and safely lead exercise routines across fitness levels.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage and motivate participants.
Excellent customer service skills with a commitment to creating a positive guest experience.
Basic knowledge of child development and safe childcare practices.
Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a dynamic environment.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
