District Operations Manager

Job Summary: This position manages the operating, service, and sales functions for the district by meeting the equipment rental needs of the construction industry, industrial companies, and comparable customers. This includes overall management

responsibility for profit and loss, budgeting, and staffing. An entrepreneurial-spirited position, driving the aggressive growth strategy for the designated district.


Essential Functions:

 Hires develops, evaluates, and influences effective and consistent productivity and teamwork to ensure the delivery of Legendary Customer Service (LCS)

 Models promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT's Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission

 Drives a safety-first culture throughout their district and overall company

 Designs develops, and implements budgets to optimize revenue targets for all branch operations within assigned territory

 Establishes criteria to ensure compliance with company guidelines and effective operations

 Leads motivates, and develops operations, service, and sales workforce. Fosters a customer-centric approach to sales and service

 Collaborates with Branch Managers, Service Managers, and Sales Managers to formulate strategies to meet or exceed Business Plan Forecasts

 Mentors Branch Managers and store personnel and provides necessary tools to help them maximize revenues, branch profitability, and performance

 Develops and implements Key Performance Indicators for tracking and reporting purposes

 Leads product quality and customer satisfaction at a district level through coaching and best practice reviews

 Manages and leads district business development, customer retention, and market expansion

 Develops & implements strategic business and sales plans and forecasts

 Ensures branches are aligned with and exceeding operational excellence goals and reviews

 Works safely always and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards

 Performs other duties as assigned


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 Strong technical aptitude and understanding of the construction equipment and rental industry

 Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data

 Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems

 Exceptional attention to detail

 Excellent oral and written communication skills

 First-class presentation skills before both small and large groups

 Interpersonal skills sufficient to engage with vendors, own staff, and corporate executives to exchange information, influence, and persuade

 Proficient skills required in solid problem-solving, planning, organization, time management, and analysis

 Exceptional organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills

 Advanced Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

 Ability to work with all levels of personnel within the organization and customer operations

 The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects

 Ability to understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making

 Ability to perform mathematical computations such as percentages, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division quickly and accurately

 Ability to interpret extensive technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and understand several abstract variables

 Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with an emphasis on accuracy and timeliness

 Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations

 Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences


Education and Experience:

 High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Business Administration or Construction Management, or related field preferred

 Seven to ten years of successful business management experience, including previous branch or territory management, preferably in the construction equipment rental industry

 A minimum of five years of progressive supervisory experience

 A proven track record of sales and customer service/retention experience

 Coaching/mentoring experience with branch management


Supervisory Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; coaching and development; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints

and resolving problems.


Travel:

 Extensive travel, up to 75% to 85% required

 Valid driver's license


Physical Requirements:

 This position involves extended periods in a stationary position; additionally, occasional movement inside the office to access office machinery, file cabinets, etc.

 This role frequently communicates with others, and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations

 This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines

 Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue

 Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.

 Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina

 Ascend/descend with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbing up and down the ladder

 Be able to safely maneuver and work underneath equipment

 Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work

 Safety training required; PPE required outside of office/parking lot area


Work Environment:

 This job is generally performed in a professional office environment

 Occasionally works outdoors and may be exposed to weather extremes conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity

 The noise level may be loud at times

 Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, steam, high-pressure water, and highspeed rotating equipment

 On occasion time spent in confined spaces and high places.

 Frequently works at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions
